EXP3: The Bridge

REVIEW SESSION:

PROGRESS/ ROOMS IN SKETCHUP:

Gallery:

The gallery is circular in form with a spiral path curving along the circumference and two smaller circular rooms for further exhibition space. This propels the viewer to travel along the perimeter where pieces and works may be displayed.

Lecture theatre:

The lecture theatre is also circular in form, adhering to the circular layout of the structure.

EXPERIMENT TWO: THE SPACE BETWEEN

WEEK 3 -

Final monument w/ Lumion environment:

Comment (correlation to Electroliquid Aggregation):

"Promoting vertical living in our multicultural urban framework by creating an open public realm through simultaneous access to the interior and exterior"

The rectangular platform serves as a "public realm" for architecture students however, it is bordered by two walls adhering to the "simultaneous access to the interior and exterior" notion. Conversely, the vertical form is thus made salient promoting vertical living.

Further sketchup model progress:

* I have taken a new and different approach from the previous model progress shots.

To adhere to the combined strategy of both architects, I have emphasised the notion of a "public realm" by placing a large rectangular platform. This platform is enclosed by two walls however, is still very much open to the exterior, coinciding with the notion of "simultaneous access to the interior and exterior."

36 custom textures - light to dark:

Chosen textures (from dark to light):

Dark: The dark, intertwining lines suggests the correlation possible from two architectural concepts as it has been applied around the railing fixture of the public space platform.

Medium: The leaf-like forms serves to highlight the coexistence of both the natural and built environment common in the work of Nathalie De Vries and MVRDV. This medium-shade texture has been applied to the support system of the vertical form.

Light: Inspired by Mies Van Der Rohe's minimalistic forms, the strict pattern of lines represent concrete tiles and are placed on the flooring of the public space platform.

WEEK 2 -

Sketchup model progress:

Chosen set:

Comment:

I have started to develop a public space in between the two separate monuments. Both forms are evident in their macro scale.
